Testimonials

Heather came a long way to trim my animals' feet. She showed up on time and was very patient and knowledgeable. Easy to talk too and my horses and ponies were very comfortable with her. One of my new mares had a weird peeling of the hoof wall and Heather trimmed it neatly. Then explained how the new hoof wall was growing out nicely underneath and in time the whole hoof will be fine. She also explained how this could have happened. I will definitely be calling her again. A really wonderful person to work with. 5 Stars from this client

Took a chance on Heather from a craigslist ad and it paid off. She is very knowledgeable in her trade. Even my trouble mare was immediately at ease with her. She is a genuinely happy person which had a calming effect with all of my animals. My "skeptical" neighbor came to see her work and had her come do his donkey's feet right after mine. Heather will be doing all of my animals from now on and we look forward to spending time with her again. I highly recommend her.

About me

Equestrian
Horses have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I have experience in many disciplines throughout my years as an equestrian: dressage, hunters, jumpers, trail riding, combined driving, and barrel racing, but my passion for the last 11 years has been eventing. Regardless of what you do with your horse, I am happy to work with you to best serve your horse's hoof needs in whatever discipline you are in.

Knowledge
Experience is important but it should always be backed by education. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut and am a Certified Applied Whole Horse Hoof-Care Trimmer from Mackinaw Dells. I am always happy to explain what I am doing and teach all I can about hoof care and how all of the different facets of horse care tie into it.

Philosophy
My hope and philosophy is this: I want to take all of the experience and knowledge I have accumulated throughout the years to be able to help your horse stay sound, happy and healthy for years to come!

Services Offered

  • Balanced barefoot trimming
I offer trimming for all equines—horses, ponies, minis and donkeys! I am currently taking on a select few new clients with well behaved horses within about 30 minutes of Georgetown KY (reach out to see if you’re within my travel radius)! Prospective clients must be willing to stay on a regular schedule—preference given to those who take hoof care seriously and have their horses on forage based diets.

  • Dietary consultation
Nothing affects a horse's hoof as much as its diet. I believe horses are healthiest on a forage based diet with a good vitamin/mineral supplement (California Trace, Vermont Blend, KIS Trace, etc) to balance out what their body needs to build and maintain a solid hoof. I'm happy to work with you and develop a healthy diet plan for your horse to build a stronger and healthier hoof!

  • Flex Hoof Boot consultant
Looking to keep your horse barefoot but need a little more hoof protection? Let me know if you'd like to do a boot fitting—free of charge to current trimming clients! Out of the dozens of hoof boots I have tried or checked out, Flex Hoof Boots are my absolute favorite. They are easy to put on, super flexible, comfortable (no rubbing), low profile, and come in lots of different colors. I do everything in these boots--flatwork, jumping, cross country schooling, trail riding, hunter pacing, and more! Check out their website: https://flexbootsusa.com
